Italian steelmaker ABS is setting up a new wire-rod mill in Udine, Italy that will produce around 500,000mt of special steel wire rods per year.
The mill, which is being set up by Danieli for the steelmaker will be able to finish 5-2.5mm diameter wire rods at a speed of 400 km per hour, Danieli noted in a statement on Jun 10. The wire rods produced at this fully automated mill will be supplied within Italy and the European region.
Danieli will also set up a walking beam furnace at this mill, which is expected to improve output and reduce the carbon footprint of the ABS mill, the Italian service provider indicated.
