Aceros Arequipa began the commissioning phase of its new steelworks at the Pisco plant, at Ica, Peru.
Once fully operational, the new mill will have a capacity of 1.25mn mt of billet. As soon as the new plant comes into operation, the furnace currently in use will be placed on standby to cover future needs.
The Pisco plant received a total investment of $ 243mn for the new steelworks, thereby strengthening its efficiency and it will be able to produce a wider range of steel grades, mainly aimed at the construction sector.
The new steel mill will receive a steady supply of recycled steel from two scrap yards that the company recently acquired in Florida, USA.
