ArcelorMittal’s Acindar in Argentina plans to invest $200mn as part of its expansion strategy. The enlargement plan to meet domestic demand and increase export volumes by improving capacity along with logistics within the company is anticipated for completion by 2025.
The company has initiated investments of $58mn towards expansion goals this year. The company is focusing on updated technology and reduction in carbon emissions as it proceeds with growth at various plants located in Santa Fe, Buenos Aires, and San Luis.
Acindar has also announced its goal for a 20pc carbon emissions drop from its manufacturing process by 2030.
Plans for environmental sustainability include the use of renewable energy, an increase in recycling raw material use, improving energy efficiencies, and analyzing the potential for hydrogen use. Acindar’s chief executive officer Everton Negresiolo added that the company’s La Tablada plant has achieved 100pc renewable energy use and further energy improvement commitments have been earmarked for 2022.
