The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) has ruled against revoking antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CV) duties on steel imports from seven countries at the end of two five-year sunset reviews.
In one review, the USITC revisited the current AD/CV duties on light-walled rectangular pipes and tubes from China, South Korea, Mexico, and Turkey to determine whether they were still valid five years after first being imposed. It concluded that removing CV duties on China and AD duties on China, South Korea, Mexico and Turkey could lead to a recurrence of dumping activities of this material from the four countries under review.
The exact scope of the order and the duties to be imposed will be published in a public report on August 12.
In another similar review, the USITC and US Department of Commerce decided to keep the AD/CV duties on prestressed concrete steel wire strand from Brazil, India, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and Thailand. Under this order, Commerce determined to hold AD duties as follows for the six countries being reviewed:
Country | Weighted average margin |
Brazil | 118.75pc |
India | 102.07pc |
Japan | 13.30pc |
Mexico | 77.20pc |
South Korea | 54.19pc |
Thailand | 12.91pc |
