Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Malaysia has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of cold-rolled stainless steel in coils and sheet from Indonesia and Vietnam. The anti-dumping probe was launched after the domestic producer BAHRU Stainless alleged that imports of these products from the alleged countries into Malaysia at a price much lower than the selling price in the domestic market is causing material injury to Malaysian market.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) has assessed and considered the evidence of dumping and injury and decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation of such products. According to the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 and its related regulations, an interim determination is assenting and is likely to levy provisional anti-dumping duty at the necessary rate to prevent further damage.
