The US aluminium association urged its administration to address aluminium overcapacity in China, which impacts the global aluminium market.

 

In five years, the overcapacity in China will be up by 60pc and the metal exported will further distort global markets, according to the statement issued by association. China is likely export at least 3.4mn mt of semi-fabricated aluminium in 2020, which is 3.5 times the US’ aluminium production, according to the research firm CRU.  

 

The association requested the US  government to address unfair advantage to Chinese manufactures and levy antidumping and countervailing duties which reduced imports of Chinese aluminium into the US.
