Aluminium Bahrain’s (Alba) Line 6 facility has passed the final performance tests with results exceeding benchmarks. The production capacity of each reduction cell is 11pc higher, while energy consumption is a per cent better. Alba completed Line 6 construction with a capital expenditure of less than $4,000/mt of aluminium produced. Alba managed to start at about 4.5 pots per day and reached a peak of 8 pots per day.

 

Alba had chosen EGA’s proprietary DX+ Ultra Technology for Potline 6 to boost its metal production, increase energy efficiency and reduce green house gas emissions. The production capacity of each reduction cell is 11pc higher, while energy consumption is a per cent better. The company commissioned its Potline 6 expansion within 23 months, beating the industry average of 30 months. Alba announced that selected pots in Potline 6 passed the final performance tests with results exceeding the benchmarks.

 

Line 6 is one of the longest reduction lines in the world and comprises of 424 reduction cells built across an area of 1,400 sq metres. The line adds 540,000 tonnes per annum to the company’s total production capacity of more than 1.5 million tonnes.
