Aluminium Bahrain BSC’s (Alba) aluminum output in 2020 stood at 1.548mn mt, up by 13pc from 1.365mn mt in the preceding year, achieving the highest production record in 50 years of its commercial operations, the company said in a statement.
The company said that despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and several difficulties, it has surpassed its annual target of 1.540mn mt in 2020.
Alba produces a range of aluminum products that include ingots, rolling slabs, extrusion billets, sows, and liquid metal.
Around 40pc of the company products are sold domestically in Bahrain’s downstream industry, while the rest is exported to countries across the globe.
In December 2020, the company had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China’s HJJ to secure alumina requirements for the smelter.
