Western Australia-based Altech Chemicals has completed the second stage of construction of its high-purity alumina (HPA) plant in Johor, Malaysia.
The company said in a recent press release that in the next phase Altech will integrate the plant with the local electric grid and begin the installation of machinery. The plant is expected to produce 4,500mt of alumina per year.
On July 14, the company also signed a purchase agreement for an industrial site spanning 25 acres (1mn sqft) in Saxony, Germany to set up a second HPA plant. The land is in Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park, which is close to alumina-related research facilities and major automotive manufacturers.
