ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) has commenced a feasibility study for their 12mn mt annual capacity integrated steel plant in Odisha. The plant is likely to come up in the Kendrapara district.

 

Last month, the company had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Odisha state government to set up a greenfield project with an estimated investment of Rs500bn. The company has also secured Thakurani iron ore mines in the state through the auction process. Its pellet plant at Paradeep is near completion and could commence work in the coming days, adding 6mn mt to the company’s pellet making capacity.

 

AM/NS is a joint venture between Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal and Japan’s Nippon steel.
