Japanese carmaker Honda’s American subsidiary recorded a 171pc rise in sales, amounting to 156,482 cars in April, compared with the same month in 2020. 

 

According to the company’s sales report, light truck sales navigated the upward momentum, recording a 207pc annual increase in sales at 98,828 units sold in April. Car sales also increased by 125pc to 57,654 units. In the year till April, sales were up 41pc at 503,573 units against 356,536 units in the same period of 2020. 

 

Both sub-brands, Honda and Acura, reported all-time sales records for certain models in April, as the US auto industry continued to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. American Honda’s electric vehicle sales also increased by 4.5 times to 11,267 units last month.
