Amerigo Resources produced 12.1mn lbs (549mt) of copper from its Minera Valle Central (MVC) operating in Chile in Q1 2020 ending March.
The company states its Q1 copper production results keeps it on track to meet its 2020 guidance despite COVID-19 emergencies. The mine operated for around 77 days in Q1. For the remaining days, it remained shut for annual maintenance work and unexpected plant stoppages due to technical reasons. However, post March 3, plant was running at full capacity.

In the March ending quarter, the company produced 12.08mn lbs of copper, down by 7pc from the prior-year quarter. Copper sales were also down by 8pc in Q1 to 11.88mn lbs from the prior year. COVID-19 has substantially affected market prices of copper, according to the company filing.
MVC has not experienced supply chain disruptions as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic as it continues its production. The plant has taken several measures to counter the outbreak.
