Amerigo Resources said that Q3 2020 production from its fully owned operation Minera Valle Central (MVC), located near Rancagua, Chile, was 9pc above its production guidance, since COVID-19 shutdowns did not impact operations in this quarter.

MVC’s copper production  from fresh and Cauquenes tailings stood at 14.68mn lbs (6,659mt) during Q3 2020, down 23pc from a year earlier at 19.09mn lbs. However, in comparison to the preceding quarter, output rose 13.2pc against 12.97mn lbs.

Copper production in the third quarter was enabled by added tonnage processed at Cauquenes with renewed water availability in MVC following resumption of near normal levels of rainfall. MVC had cut back on tonnage processing in Cauquenes in February 2020 due to a shortage present in central Chile at the time.
