Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Greeley, Colorado-based Andersen’s Sales & Salvage has purchased Martin Supply, an auto salvage yard that closed in late 2020, with plans to open a new scrap and auto demolition facility in Windsor.

The company is currently renovating the shuttered business and intends to resume operations under the new ownership by June or July after construction is completed and the necessary permits obtained.

The property was purchased for $1mn and the new facility will operate under the name Iron Ridge Auto & Metal, per reports. The business will be unchanged at the new site.

Andersen’s has been operating since 1959 and has a staff of 50-60 employees. The company will continue with its Greeley operations and aims to add workforce to manage the second location. The recycler started as an auto salvage company then expanded into a scrap yard with operations in Atwood, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The company’s scrap processing operations contained a shredding plant since 1995. The company began providing auto shredding or ferrous and non-ferrous production systems after acquiring and since installing a new shredder in 2008. The company also added a shredder downstream system in 2014 and supplies to the local steel industry.
