Canadian firm Apel Extrusions has bought land in Phoenix, Arizona to set up its new headquarters and manufacturing facility.
According to media reports, the company is planning to spend $100mn to develop the 323,782 sq ft facility and employ about 200 new workers. The new location will be operational by mid-2022.
Apel operates five extrusion presses in North America, three of which are in Oregon. The company’s headquarters are currently in Calgary, Alberta. Mike Flynn, president and chief operating officer at Apel, said that the new acquisition will help shorten the lead times for extrusions to the West Coast cities by two days or less by truck.
