Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Aqua Metals has signed an agreement with Taiwan’s ACME Metal Enterprise to provide its AquaRefining process for refining lead to the latter.

Under the agreement, Aqua Metals will license this technology to ACME and will work with the Taiwanese company to expand the technology’s reach to other recyclers in the Asian region. Aqua will begin shipping the machinery for this technology to ACME in Q4 2021.

ACME plans to use the technology to recycle lead and use it in the process to refine lead bullion into lead alloys. The company sells lead alloys made from refined lead to global battery manufacturers. The partnership between Aqua and ACME will also include developing a process to convert briquettes made through the AquaRefining process into lead oxide while reducing the company’s carbon emissions.

Aqua’s chief executive officer Steve Cotton said that the technology remained the only viable process to recycle lead in a sustainable manner because of which, the company was experiencing strong demand for it globally. Aqua will announce its Q2 2021 results and operational highlights on Jul 30.
