Argentina’s car production increased by 16.1pc to 32,149 units in September from 27,687 units in the same month last year, according to the Argentine Association of Automotive Makers (Adefa).
The South American country’s car production and sales increased last month on an annual basis after the market began recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, Adefa noted, adding that car sales rose by 30.5pc to 35,065 units from 26,876 during the period under review.
Exports fall
Car shipments, however, declined by 17pc to 17,903 units in September from 21,568 vehicles in the same prior-year period. Of the total number of cars exported, about 66.2pc were shipped to Brazil, 9pc to Central America, 6.7pc to Peru, 5.7pc to Colombia, and 5.1pc to Chile, according to Adefa.
On September 1, the Argentinian government and the country’s automotive industry agreed to produce 250,000 cars by the end of this year, a target that exceeds the scheduled production by 20,000 vehicles, Adefa indicated.
