Argentina’s produced 388,200mt of crude steel in December 2020, up 19pc from 326,200mt in the same month of 2019, according to the Argentine Chamber of Steel.
The rise in volumes was attributed to higher demand from the construction, automotive and durable goods industries. Hot-rolled coil production rose by 35.3pc to 403,600mt in December from 298,200mt in the prior year period. Cold-rolled coil production was up 37.6pc to 126,500mt from 92,000mt in the same period under comparison. The country’s Iron ore output climbed by 27.8pc to 252,500mt in December on an annual basis from 197,500mt.
Argentina’s car output rose by 107.7pc to 30,172 in December 2020, according to figures from the Argentine Association of Automotive Makers (Adefa). Car production in the full year 2020, on the other hand, fell by 18.3pc to 257,187 cars from 314,787 units produced in 2019.
