Ferrous scrap imports in Argentina increased by 149pc in April to192,069mt from 77,233mt in the same month last year. The country’s scrap imports rose by 86pc from 103,249mt in the previous month according to its Customs data.

 

Germany was the main supplier of ferrous scrap to Argentina, shipping 99,560mt in April, up 91pc from 52,233mt exported in the same month last year. Germany’s shipments increased by 102pc from March when it exported 49,249mt.

 

Argentina added two new suppliers in April; the US, from where it imported 37,444mt, and Mexico, from where it acquired another 35,066mt.

 

Brazil, which was Argentina’s main source of ferrous scrap in March, lowered its sales from 54,000mt in March to 20,000mt in April, a decrease of 63pc. Brazil’s shipments also reduced by 20pc from April 2020 when it had shipped 25,000mt of scrap.
