The Argentine steel industry’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) grew by 65pc to 91.1 points in January-April compared to the same period in 2020 the Argentine National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) reported.
In April, this sector experienced an improvement of 230pc compared to the fourth month of 2020, the institute indicated on Wednesday.
The Argentine basic metal industries improved their index by 43pc in the first four months of the year to 99 points from January-April 2020.
Aluminum and other non-ferrous metals industries reported a 9pc drop in IPI to 118 points in this period. However, it showed a recovery of 47pc in April, compared to this same month of 2020.
INDEC also noted that basic metal industries used 69pc of their installed capacity between January and April, compared to 25pc used in the first four months of 2020.
