Aluminium import prices in Asia for 6063 extrusion, A35 wheels, Taint/Tabor, Tense, Zorba 95/2, Talk and Tally rose in sync with the advancement in the three-month aluminium contract on LME from the prior week, in addition to the scarcity of scrap as exporters in Northern hemisphere struggled with rough winter weather. ADC12 trades to Japan showed signs of recovery and a few manufacturers also heard new Chinese bids for ADC 12.
Market participants shared that domestic demand for the raw material used by auto alloy manufacturers is returning after a gap of three months. Alloy exporters to Japan are getting active in the market. Importers suffering from container shortage are also dealing with scarcity of certain grades due to short supply from the US and Europe due to rough weather.
The official three-month aluminium contract rose to $2,161/mt on Feb 18 from $2,080.5/mt Feb 11 up by $80.5/mt
The weekly Davis Index for Zorba 95/2 settled at $1,588/mt cfr India port, up by $67/mt. Exporters indicated that Chinese bids for Zorba 99/3 have started coming in as the market will reopen on Feb 22 after being shut for Chinese New Year holidays. The weekly Davis Index for Zorba 99/3 settled at $1,640/mt cif China port, up by $185/mt. Zorba prices surged as three-month LME copper prices gained by $341.5/m to settle at $8,631/mt on Feb 18 from $8,289.5/mt on Feb 11.
The weekly index for 6063 extrusion settled at $1,701/mt cfr India port, up by $68/mt. The weekly index for Taint/Tabor rose by $41/mt to settle at $1,566/mt cfr India port while for A356 wheels, the index rose to $1,900/mt cfr India port, up by $12/mt.
The weekly Index for Tense settled at $1,530/mt cfr India, up by $30/mt.
The weekly Davis Index for Talk or Aluminium-Copper radiators settled at $4,125/mt, up $146/mt cfr India.
The weekly Davis Indexes for ADC 12 for China and Japan settled at $2,100/mt cfr China port, up by $71/mt, and at $2,200/mt cfr Japan port, up by $100/mt.
