Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Aluminium import prices in Asia for Extrusion 95/5, A35 wheels, Tense and Zorba 95/2 gained while Taint/Tabor, Talk and Tally dropped despite the rise in the three-month aluminium contract on LME from the prior week. The trades for ADC 12 to Japan remained slow with only a few manufacturers hearing bids from China. 

 

The official three-month aluminium contract rose to $2,236.5/mt April 1 from $2,235.5/mt on March 25, up by $1/mt. 

 

The weekly Davis Index for Zorba 95/2 settled at $1,700/mt cfr India port, up by $10/mt. The weekly Index for Zorba 99/3 settled at $1,680/mt cif China port, down by $148/mt.

 

The weekly Davis Index for 6063 extrusion settled at $1,850/mt from $1,805/mt cfr India port, up by $45/mt. Domestic demand has bounced back and limited availability of material is pushing prices up. 

 

The weekly Davis Index for Taint/Tabor dropped by $13/mt to settle at $1,660/mt cfr India port while for A356 wheels, the index rose to $2,009/mt by $19/mt cfr India port. The Index for Tense settled at $1,653/mt, up by $39/mt.

 

The weekly Davis Index for Talk or Aluminium-Copper radiators settled at $4,200/mt, down by $2/mt cfr India port. 

 

The weekly Davis Index for ADC 12 cfr China settled at $2,160/mt from $2,183/mt, down by $23/mt cfr China port. ADC 12 exporters reported few bids at $2,180/mt level but not exporters confirmed trades at these levels. 

 

The weekly Davis Index for ADC 12 cfr Japan settled at $2,250/mt, down by $25/mt. Japanese bids have gone silent for past few days due to microchip shortage. Only a few heard Japanese bids around $2,250/mt level.
