Cyprus-based miner Atalaya’s copper production rose to 13,572mt in the fourth quarter (Oct-Dec 2019), up by 21.1pc from the year prior. The company’s copper production in 2020 is likely to be at 55,000-58,000mt, up from 44,950mt in the year prior. 

 

Atalaya completed the expansion of its Proyecto Rio Tinto mining site in Southwest Spain, which added an annual capacity of 15mt. 

 

The company’s annual copper recovery rate fell to 87.09pc from 88.30pc in 2018, on lower recovery rates as Atalaya ramped up its semi autogenous grinding mill. Its on-site concentrate inventories were 2,221mt in the last week of Dec 2019.
