Brazillian nickel miner Atlantic Nickel company has shipped 10,000mt of nickel concentrate to Xingang port in China.
This is the first shipment of nickel concentrate exported by the company this year from the port of Ilhéus, sul da Bahía in Brazil, the South American firm said in a statement on Feb 4.
In 2020, Atlantic Nickel exported 67,700mt of nickel concentrate to the international market.
The company expects to double its nickel sulphide concentrate capacity from 16.5ktpa at its Santa Rita mine in Brazil. This project will need an investment of $355mn in the first five years of operations and is expected to grow from eight to 34 years through an underground mine operation slated to begin in 2028.
