The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission has initiated an anti-dumping (AD) investigation on certain round seamless copper tubes imported into the country originating from Vietnam, the commission informed in a notification on March 22, 2021.

The products involved in the investigation come under tariff code 7411.10.00.11.

The products are round seamless copper tubes complying with Australian Standard AS 1432, Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZ 1571, or Australian Standard AS 1572 with an outside nominal diameter between 9.52mm and 53.98mm, and a nominal wall thickness between 0.71mm and 1.83 mm, including coated tubes.

Thermally insulated copper tubes, such as pair coils, annealed coils, layer wound packs/level wound coils, and copper alloy tubes are exempted from the investigation.

The commission has commenced the probe based on an application filed by Metal Manufacturers Pty Ltd trading as MM Kembla, a domestic producer of certain copper tubes.

The application alleges that the said copper products have been exported into Australia at prices less than their normal value and that the dumping has caused injury to the domestic companies manufacturing the products.

The investigation covered a period between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020, and the period of injury analysis began from January 1, 2017.
