Australia based BHP’s copper production in Jul-Dec 2019 increased by 7pc to 885,000mt and the output of iron ore rose by 2pc to 121mn mt, according to the company’s operational review.
The company’s production guidance too remained unchanged at 1,705,000-1,820,000mt for the year ending in March 2020.
BHP owned Escondida copper mines in Chile produced 602,000mt of copper, 4pc up from the prior-year period despite protests affecting its output. Production impact of stoppages is likely to be 7,000mt for the year ending March 2020.
BHP’s Pampa Norte copper production increased by 18 per cent.
