Australia’s ferrous scrap exports were down 31pc in April 2021 at 159,896mt from 231,458mt during the same month last year. Exports also declined 19pc on a monthly basis from 196,736mt this March, according to the country’s Trademap data.

 

In terms of volume, Vietnam was the biggest importer of the country’s ferrous scrap with 26pc more inbound cargo at 38,972mt in April, from 30,893mt during the prior-year period. On a monthly basis, however, imports declined 52pc from 81,724mt in March 2021.

 

Imports to Bangladesh continued to decrease with 70pc less Australian ferrous scrap cargo in April 2021 at 29,912mt, compared to 99,565mt last year. Bangladesh’s imports this April also declined 6pc from 31,688mt in March 2021.

 

Australian ferrous scrap exports during the first four months of the year were 589,419mt, 17pc lower than 708,740mt shipped in the same timeframe of 2020.
