Mexico’s light vehicles (LV) production increased by 32pc in H1 2021, compared to the same period last year, according to data from the National Institute of Geography, Statistics, and Informatics (INEGI).

 

From January to June of this year, the country manufactured 1.6 million units as against 1.2 million in the first half of 2020.

 

Production of cars and light trucks also rebounded 5.5pc to 87,088 units this June, compared to 62,861 vehicles in the same month last year. Light vehicle manufacturing increased by 9pc in June compared to 85,662 units in May 2021.

 

Mexico’s LV sales increased by 32pc 515,400 vehicles from January to June compared to 436,553 units during the same period in 2020. In terms of exports, volumes increased 34pc, to 1.4 million units from 1.05 million.
