Automobile production in China dropped by 24.6pc to 1.78mn in Jan 2020 from the prior year on the back of the coronavirus outbreak, according to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Caam).
Production of passengers car was at 1.444mn, a drop by 33.9pc from the year prior. Commercial vehicles’ production was at 341,000, down by 7.8pc; new energy vehicles were at 40,000, down by 5.7pc and commercial vehicles were at 50,000, down by 37.4pc.
Auto production in Jan 2020 declined by 33.5pc from Dec 2019.
Sales in January totalled 1.941mn, down by 18pc from the prior year and by 27.1pc from the prior month.
