Canada-based Battery Mineral Resources Corp has signed an agreement with Xiana Mining Inc’s Minera Altos de Punitaqui Limitada (MAP) to acquire the latter’s Punitaqui Mining Complex, according to a company statement.
The Punitaqui Mining Complex is a copper-gold mine located in Coquimbo, Chile. It was placed under care and maintenance following a decline in copper prices and challenging macroeconomic conditions amid the COVID-19 outbreak last year.
The mine already has an underground infrastructure, including a 3,600mt per day concentrator and four existing underground deposits with associated underground development groundwork.
Earlier, the plant had operated at a permitted capacity of 3,000mt per day which could reach 3,600mt. The capacity of 4,000mt per day is being investigated.
In 2019, the mine produced 21,000mt of copper concentrate.
Battery Mineral is a Canadian-based, multi-commodity resource company.
