India’s two-wheeler manufacturer, BattRe Electric Mobility is considering to double their annual production capacity which currently stands at 12,000 bikes. 

 

The company will set up new facility at Jaipur for the production expansion. New models of electric scooters and bikes will be produced at the unit. The company could also produce electric cycles. At present, the company has just one facility at Jaipur. 

 

Operations at the new facility will commence by June this year. The company stated that it has about 100 charging stations. 

 

Most countries are making a shift towards electric or hybrid vehicles in the next couple of years. This would result is increased consumption of aluminium alloys and other metals required to manufacture vehicles. Most electric vehicles in India use lithium-ion batteries which consists of nickel and a further expansion of electric vehicles would drive nickel consumption and prices.
