Metso Outotec will deliver a second iron ore pellet plant to Bejing Shougang’s greenfield project in Qingdao, China. Just two weeks ago, the latter had ordered a similar plant for its facility in Yunan.
Like the first order, this pellet plant will produce 4mn mt in iron pellets per year. It will be operated by Qingdao Bangtuo New Materials Technology on behalf of Shougang, set to be commissioned around Q4 2022.
The order will be booked in Metso’s Q2 2021 orders. The company noted that it was its fourth such order in the past 10 months, scaling its Chinese production capacity to around 15mn mt per year, all of which will be set up in the next two years.
