Big River Steel’s galvanizing line in Arkansas started operating this week after repairs resulting from an electronic failure in early September some market participants told Davis Index.
The almost 500,000mt (550,000nt) annual capacity of the galvanizing line means the three-week unintended shutdown reduced the month’s capacity by approximately 31,000mt.
Prices on HRC, CRC, and galvanized rolled steel products increased in the past week. With improved demand for galvanized steel from automotive, construction, and industrial manufacturers, the supply of galvanized flat-rolled products is expected to remain tight in the US domestic market through Q4 2020.
