Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

BMW Group’s vehicle sales increased by 33.5pc to 636,600 cars globally in the first quarter of the year on an annual basis. 

 

Its sales in Europe increased by 8.3pc to 238,761 units in Q1 2021 compared to the same quarter in 2020, though its sales in Germany were rangebound with a dip of 0.3pc to 67,804 cars in the same period. 

 

The German car manufacturer’s sales in Asia rose significantly by 76.4pc to 286,968 vehicles in the first three months of the year compared to Q1 2020. In China, the company’s sales almost doubled to 229,748 vehicles on an annual basis. 

 

Sales in the Americas grew by 17.3pc to 95,961 units in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2020 with US sales increasing by 20.1pc to 77,718 vehicles. 

 

The group’s sales of electric and hybrid vehicles more than doubled in the three month period to 70,207 units against Q1 2020.
