American aerospace manufacturer Boeing delivered three of its 777 Freighter models to Qatar Airways as cargo demand increases amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a news release, one of the reasons for the triple purchase by Qatar Airways is to transport the COVID-19 vaccine, which during the current times, is one of the most challenging tasks in logistics. The company services 60 destinations across the globe through its Doha hub.

Akbar Al Baker, group chief executive at Qatar Airways noted that the new freighters’ arrival increases the company’s transportation capacity, which is already under pressure during the pandemic. The carrier currently operates 24 Boeing 777 Freighters. This delivery marked 200 units of the model delivered globally by Boeing.
