Boeing is setting up an additional production line for converted 737-800 BCFs (Boeing converted freighters) in Guangdong, China. The plant, which is being made in co-operation with Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co. (GAMECO), is expected to be completed by the end of Q3 2021.

Boeing China noted that this is the second such plant to be set up in the country in partnership with GAMECO. The new facility will supply freight aircraft to the growing demand for these models in the Asian country.

The first production line went into construction last year and was commissioned in June 2020. The Boeing 787-800 BCFs will operate exclusively in China. Currently, there is an order backlog of 132 units for this project.
