American aerospace manufacturer, Boeing reported a 67pc decline in commercial airliner deliveries in January-September, tallying at 98 units, compared with 301 aircrafts in the same period last year. In Q3 2020, deliveries stood at 28 aircrafts, down 55pc from 62 units in the same quarter last year.  

 

The Boeing 737 Max is reaching closer to flying again as many countries have conducted their safety test and retrained crews for the aircraft. During January-September, revenue from airliners fell by 54pc to $11.4bn, compared with $24.7bn in the first nine months of 2019. In Q3 2020, Boeing’s revenue in this segment declined by 56 pc to $3.5bn against $8.3bn in Q3 2019. 

 

In the third quarter, the aerospace OEM recorded a $1.3bn loss, as compared with a loss of $40mn in Q3 2019. Losses continue to pile up due to sunken demand caused by travel restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. In the year till Sep 30, Boeing faced an operating loss of $6.2bn, compared with a loss of $3.8bn in the same period in 2019.
