Spain’s Bornay has commissioned a high frequency (HF) RD tube welding line to produce high-quality tubes with round, square, or rectangular cross-sections.
The new line has up to 1.2mn mt annual capacity and can produce tubes with 10-40mm diameters and wall thicknesses of up to 4.5mm. The line was put into full production in February 2021 after successful testing through January, according to the SMS Group which implemented the upgrade for Bornay.
The new line can also produce rectangular selections in 40x20mm and square sections of 30x30mn mostly with 4mm, thickness. Market segments for these products include automotive, agricultural, and renewable energy.
Bornay, which is in the Alicante region, has been operating in welded steel tube production since 1965. The Spanish company began selling wind turbines into the US small wind sector in mid-2019. According to its website, most of the company’s finished steel prices have declined by 3-7pc effective February 20, 2021, against January list prices.
