Brazilian Nickel (BRN) announced today that it has received an Installation License from SEMAR (Brazilian Piaui State Environmental Agency) for its Piaui Nickel Project (PNP1000).
BRN plans to convert its demonstration plant that it used in 2016 and 2017 into a small scale operation to produce 1,400mt of Ni and 35mt of Co annually. The main plant at PNP1000 will also operate in the same manner as the demonstration plant with the production capacity expected to increase from an initial 100,000mt per year to 3mn mt annually.
BRN requested a license at the end of 2020 and will now start construction as soon as other financial aspects are taken care of. Construction is expected to take around 12 months with operations projected to start in Q1 2022.
