Brazil’s ferrous scrap exports fell by 73.1pc to 23,632mt in February, from 88,115mt in the same month of 2020 according to the country’s Ministry of Economy data.
The average scrap price, on the other hand, increased to $484.6/mt last month, from $250.2/mt in February 2020, according to the ministry’s data.
Brazil’s iron ore and concentrates shipments, rose by 10.8pc to 24mn mt in February, from 21.6mn mt in the same month last year. The average price for iron ore increased to $119.8/mt from $68.2/mt during this period.
Exports of aluminum ores and concentrates rose by 62.7pc to 460,909mt in February, from 283,129mt shipped in the same month of 2020. Copper ores and concentrates exports fell by 50.6pc to 57,815mt from 117,130mt during the same period, while there were no shipments of nickel ores and concentrate in February compared to 11,038mt shipped in the same month of 2020.
The South American country’s car shipments dropped to 27,753 units in February, from 28,621cars shipped in the same month of 2019, the ministry noted.
