Brazilian flat steel distributors’ sales rose by 15.8pc to 339,400mt in November from 293,200 in the same month last year, the country’s National Institute of Steel Distributors (Inda) said.
Distributor purchases climbed by 4.1pc to 291,500mt in November this year, from 280,000mt in the same month the prior year. Flat steel inventories in Brazil fell 7.1pc to 630,400mt in November from 678,300mt in October. Flat steel imports, on the other hand, doubled to 99,300mt in November from 48,700mt a year ago.
Inda indicated that flat steel sales may decrease by 11pc in 2020 after December figures are included.
Brazil’s crude steel output rose by 3.5pc to 2.7mn mt in October from 2.6mn mt in October 2018, according the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
