Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Britvic is targeting 2025 to cut carbon emissions 35pc by replacing its cans’ steel content with aluminum.

The British drink maker intends to include every aspect of its products’ lifecycle, from harvesting ingredients to recycling packages, and in doing so will support development of a circular economy for packaging.

In addition to changing its choice metal for packaging, Britvic announced other strategic measures to abet its 2025 target: Installation of biomass boilers to power its manufacturing; using 100pc renewable grid-sourced electricity across all its UK manufacturing sites after doing the same in its Irish and Brazilian facilities in 2018.

Last year, by using more renewable energy and investing in new manufacturing equipment across its UK sites, the company reduced its market-based manufacturing carbon emission (relative t production) by 16pc.

Britvic’s 35pc carbon emissions reduction target, which will extend through its value chain, will measure targets against its 2017 baseline.
