The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has imposed anti-dumping (AD) duties on certain concrete reinforcing bars (rebar) imported into the country originating from Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.
The products involved in the investigation fall under tariff classification codes HS codes 7213.10.00.00, 7214.20.00.00, 7215.90.00.90, and 7227.90.00.90.
The agency has imposed the anti-dumping duty for Egypt, Italy, Malaysia, and Singapore at 23.1pc, while anti-dumping duties for Vietnam, Algeria, and Indonesia were set at 10.5pc, 4.8pc, and 3.3pc, respectively.
The agency imposed the safeguard measures after proper investigation and evidence of dumping. It had earlier announced the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duties on the said products on February 4, 2021.
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will continue its inquiry into the question of injury and damage to the domestic rebar producers and will make a final ruling by June 4.
