The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has opened an investigation into seven countries suspected of dumping rebar.
In a notice published on September 22, the CBSA indicated that the probe was initiated following a joint application from AltaSteel, ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada, and Gerdau Ameristeel, which suspect concrete reinforcing steel bars have contravened fair rules.
The exporters under review are Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The HS codes of the merchandise under review are 7213.10.00.00, 7214.20.00.00, 7215.90.00.90, and 7227.90.00.90, which refer to any uncoated bars produced in any of the aforementioned countries.
According to the CBSA’s schedule for the investigation, the preliminary results are slated for December 21 publication, and the final determination will be made by March 19, 2021.
