Canada’s building permits in November increased by 12.9pc to C$9.4bn ($7.32bn) compared to the previous month, according to Statistics Canada (StatCan).

 

Residential permits in November rose by 10pc to C$6.4bn from October this year breaking the September growth record. Of the total residential permits, multi-family dwellings increased by 14.8pc to C$3.5bn while single-family ones grew by 4.4pc to C$2.8mn in last month from October, StatCan reported. 

 

In the non-residential segment, permits rose by 19.5pc to C$3bn in November from October, with commercial permits rising by 31.2pc to C$1.6bn and institutional permits surged by 23.2pc to C$900mn. On the other hand, industrial permits plummeted for the first time in six months by 9.3pc to C$537mn during the same period under comparison.
