Canada’s iron ore shipments increased 7pc to 48.8mn mt in the first 11 months of 2019 compared with 45.8mn mt in the same period in 2018 according to data published by Natural Resources Canada.


Iron ore Shipments in November were down 32pc from October at 3.6mn mt, and also decreased by 6pc compared to the same month in 2018.


Canada decreased its exports in November 2019 by 34pc to 3.4mn mt compared to October but by only 2pc compared to November 2018.  Iron ore exports increased by 8pc to 45.4mn mt during the first 11 months of 2019 and made up 93pc of total ore shipped out of the country. Iron ore shipments to consumers totaled 3.3mn mt in the first 11-months in 2019, down 10pc compared to 3.7mn mt in the same period a year ago. 


The data indicated that iron ore inventory at the end of November stood at 6.5mn mt, up 21pc compared to the stock level in October and increased by 31pc from the stock level at the end of November 2018.
