Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Canada’s total exports in June this year rose by 30pc $C53.7bn ($42.9bn) from June 2020 and by 8.7pc from May, according to Statistics Canada (StatCan). The country’s total imports in June saw a 17.6pc rise to C$50.5bn from the same month last year while it dropped by 1pc from May this year. 

 

Export of metal ores and non-metallic minerals grew by 17.6pc in June to $2.1bn from June last year and increased by 13.3pc from the previous month. Export of metal and non-metallic mineral products was up by 29.9pc to C$6.7bn in June on an annual basis and rose by 12.7pc from May this year, StatCan stated. Motor vehicle and parts saw a 2.8pc decline in June exports to C$5.8bn compared to a year ago and increased by 14.9pc from May. Export of aircraft and other transportation equipment grew by 13.6pc to C$1.8bn in June annually and dropped by 10.7pc from May . 

 

Imports of metal ores and non-metallic minerals fell by 20.8pc to C$1.1bn in June from the same month last year while it dropped by 6.2pc from May this year. Import of metal and non-metallic mineral products surged by 42.5pc to C$5bn in June on an annual basis and dropped by 5.1pc from may this year. Import of motor vehicles and parts rose by 24.9pc to C$6.7bn in June from June 2020 while it fell by 3.8pc from May this year. Import of aircraft and other transportation equipment dropped by 15.9pc to C$1.8bn in June annually and increased by 28pc from may this year, StatCan reported.
