Canada’s manufacturing industry’s sales jumped by 57.1pc in April to C$57bn ($46.9bn) from C$36bn in the same month a year ago, but dropped by 2.1pc from C$58.3bn in March, according to Statistics Canada (StatCan).
The country’s manufacturing sales of non-metallic mineral products rose by 57.3pc to C$1.3bn in April compared to C$881mn in the same month of 2020 and fell by 5.6pc from C$1.4bn in March this year. Its manufacturing sales of primary metals increased by 57.2pc to C$4.7bn from C$3bn in the same annual timeframe and grew by 2.2pc from C$4.6bn in March 2021, StatCan stated.
Manufacturing sales of fabricated metal products was up 51pc to C$3.6bn in April compared to C$2.3bn on an annual basis and increased by 2.2pc from C$3.5bn on a monthly basis.
The country’s manufacturing sales of transportation equipment soared by 211pc to C$6.3bn in April compared to C$2bn in April 2020 and declined by 23.6pc from C$8.3bn on a monthly basis, StatCan noted.
