Investment in Canadian building construction rose on a monthly basis by 1.8pc to C$15.1bn ($11.3bn) in July, according to a Statistics Canada report.
Investment in Canada’s residential construction sector increased by 4.9p to C$9.9bn during the period, with investment in single-units rising by 7.5pc and investment in multi-units climbing by 2.4pc.
However, investment in Canada’s non-residential construction sector decreased by 3.7pc to C$5.3bn in July from June, StatCan reported. The commercial sector, in particular, had a 5pc decline in investment, while the institutional and industrial sectors saw declines of 0.8pc and 2.8pc, respectively.
