Canada’s investment in building construction declined by 0.4pc to C$15.2bn ($11.87bn) in October from the previous month, according to a Statistics Canada (StatCan) report. 

 

Investment in non-residential buildings was down by 3.2pc to C$4.4bn in October from September. Under this segment, investment in commercial construction declined by 4.7pc to C$2.5bn. Investment in the industrial construction saw a 1.7pc drop in October while that in institutional construction was down by 0.8pc, StatCan reported. 

 

Investment in the residential construction on the other hand increased by 0.7pc in October from September. Of this, single unit construction grew by 3.7pc to C$5.5bn while multi unit construction fell by 2.1pc in October from the previous month.
